PostHeaderIcon generator related question?

we are using 1000kva generator, for our plant, it is driven by diesel engine which consumes 250 gallons minimum daily….pls answer me is there any option for reducing diesel consumption, ans also we have 200 kva generator for small accomodation purpose.

can u use this 200kva generator instead of 1000 kva bu placing stepup transformer and then stepdown to normal voltage,,,is there any possibility like that..pls answer me…

OR is there any thing which drives 1000kva generator without diesel consumption…….

u cant use 200kva instead of 1000kva.. eventhough u use stepup transfrmr, u couldnt meet the required load demand with that 200kva generator

If you have periods where your electrical load is very light, you could use the 200 kva generator because it should use less fuel at 200 kva than the 1000 kva generator running at less than 200 kva. And, of course, you would have to power down the larger generator to get the fuel savings and bring it back on when the load goes back up.

Use of the step up transformer would only make sense if the smaller generator were far away and you are just trying to minimize line losses, however, I expect that the losses due to the transformer efficiency will be larger than the savings you would get from the higher voltage, in any case you will not be able to get more than 200 kva.

There are number of energy sources that will drive your generator, wind, water, alternative fuels, etc, but not knowing your location, I can’t tell which one would be economical for you. Why don’t you ask a follow-up question on that topic?
