PostHeaderIcon uninteruped power for the home.?

Where i live i have a lot of power cuts, this would not be a problem but i have a collection of snakes. Snakes need heat and if the power is off for a while say when on holiday, then my snakes would die. I need a ups system, a small petrol or diesel generator with the ups system. The problem is the only ups generators i can find are all industral like 3000kw! i have seen battery systems but only good for computers.
thanks

i use a few lorry batterys and a good solar panel, cheap as chips

You need two pieces of information, 1. number of watts for the heater (and remember, there won’t be any heat in the rest of the house) and 2. number of hours.

Once you have those two numbers you can decide on a battery operated one, or a small gas or diesel engine driven generator.

Change the watts to kW (divide by 1000) and multiply by number of hours to get storage requirements in kW-hours. For scale, a large auto battery is good for about 1 kW-hour. So for much more than 1 kW-hr, you will need a engine operated generator. It will need auto start and auto switch-over.

Given that electric heaters use thousands of watts, and you are talking about days, it appears you need a gas driven generator.

Easy enough to get a 3 kW (for example) generator, but you will have to add a larger fuel tank, and the switch over and start up circuitry.

You can use 12 volts car battery to light up a 12 volts car front lamp to give heat. Just prepare more car batteries and get them charged with a charger. If you use 120 volt heat lamp for your snakes, you can series 10 pieces car battery to provide 120 volts to light up the same heat lamp.
